boxing production requirements

In order to ensure a successful live event, we specify the following “Gucci” requirements from event spaces and venues. However, nothing is set in stone and we can work around most issues given enough time and notice before arriving at the event.

Space for a self-contained 12U flight case for the streaming setup, where we rig a desk and a couple of monitors.

Our general requirements / limitations / notes:

  • 13AMP (10AMP) UK plug power at the production station area and each camera endpoint.

  • Unfiltered public internet connection of at least 25/25Mbs

    • To stream a live event like a boxing match, you will need the following requirements for a high-speed internet connection

    • A minimum download speed of at least 25 Mbps: This will ensure that the video streams smoothly without buffering or interruptions.

    • A minimum upload speed of at least 25 Mbps: This will ensure that the video stream can be transmitted to the internet in real-time.

    • A stable connection: The internet connection should be stable, with minimal fluctuations in speed or connectivity.

    • A wired connection: A wired connection, such as ethernet, will typically provide a more stable and faster connection compared to a wireless connection.

    • A backup internet connection: It is a good idea to have a backup internet connection in case the primary connection goes down. This could be a wireless hotspot or a separate internet service provider.

    • Note: These requirements are based on streaming a single 1080p video at 30 frames per second. If you are streaming multiple videos or higher quality video, you may need a faster internet connection.

  • We are an HD-SDI production but limited on cabling length of no more than 30m per camera.

  • Our Audio snake is max 25m from the control area to the commentary position.

  • We can produce a program output for distribution to big screens in HD-SDI. The production format is 1080p50 and will be provided on a BNC CTP from our flight case or for short runs of less than 5m we can supply this as an HDMI connection

  • We would require discrete Analog balanced audio feed(s) of the DJ, announcers, MC and other external audio sources. We try to prevent commercial music tracks from being played on the Livestream. The DJ music is helpful for our audio automation so that when we detect DJ music, we can automate the streaming audio to play a commercial-free background track.

  • We run a wireless access point at 2.4Ghz for wireless camera tally and other vmix production requirements.

  • We use wireless HDMI transmitters in the 5Ghz band (usually 3) at ringside. Ideally, in line of sight of the control area.

  • In the case where streampunk is asked to perform sound / DJ duties, we provide a line audio (balanced or unbalanced) to the house PA. Please note, streampunk DO NOT provide sound reinforcement equipment (such as speakers, amplifiers, etc)

  • Streampunk at this time do not provide lighting for any reason.

    • Please provide the following requirements to the lighting provider.

      • Use a balanced color temperature of around 5600K.

      • Use light sources with a high color rendering index (CRI) to ensure accurate color representation.

      • Use multiple light sources to create a sense of depth and dimensionality in the scene.

      • Minimize harsh shadows as much as possible through the use of soft boxes and diffusers.

What keeps us up at night is making sure we understand the power options and cabling runs from the cameras to the production area. (Note: doesn't actually keep me up at night, but it would be one less headache on the day :)

In some case we require additional height for our camera operators. We would prefer option to be provided by the venue, however we are able to provide a camera platform such as below.

Here is an example of a common setup and the high level requirements.
